Purple Mexican Fruit - dark coloured seeds inside?
Hello! I was in Mexico for a week and at the hotel they kept serving a deep dark purplish/pinkish fruit with black seeds in it. It looks like the skin was a green sort of colour. I've had a look online and can't for the life of me figure out what it is - maybe some sort of cactus fruit?
Any ideas on what it was? They were sure tasty and I'd love to buy some more now that I'm home!
I think it might have been Dragon Fruit - but all the types I've tried in Canada have been white on the inside with tiny-tiny seeds. These fruits were a lot smaller (maybe palm of your hand) with bigger seeds. Hmmmm
Sound like a pricklky pear ( aka "cactus fruit").
The seeds are edible and they're great( if those are what u had).

It's a prickly pear or cactus fruit. There are a few varieties. The smaller ones which are green / red on the outside are the type we get in the USA.They have a bigger black edible seed( the size of an apple seed but roundish).
They're delicious when ripe but if you handle the outside of them, your hands will itch and sting for awhile.
