How could you improve your understanding of the hypothetical case study outlined below?
The hypothetical case study is a case referred to a social worker.
A married coupe find out that the husband has a chronic illness, the wife feels completely overwhelmed by the situation and feels she does not have the ability to look after their 3 children.
The wife is referred to a social worker.
What information from the areas of ethics and child welfare could you draw upon to improve your understanding of this situation and inform your intervention in this case?
I am using this hypothetical study for my dissertation on crisis theory.

I'm not social worker, but from a child welfare point of view, I would want to find out whether the woman did have resources or could develop resources to care for the children. Ethically, do I guide her toward giving the children up if it looks like she really does not have resources to care for them. what if she wants to adopt them out, but I feel that this is really just her chance to be free of the responsibilities? Can I support her decision?
I would definitely want to explore with her exactly what resources she will have, or can gain through education or training. Also evaluate her emotional stability to take over. Ethically, what if I feel as the professional that she is really NOT capable of managing, but she has decided to try. Is this potential neglect? Do I call Child Welfare? Do I unconditonally support her decision?
