How can I clean verdigris spots from my antique copper without wrecking the patina?
I have an antique dry sink (1780) with a copper lining on top. I moved recently and when I lifted it out and looked on the bottom of the liner, there were several little blue-green dots. I don't want these to eat through the copper or anything (it's solid, custom made for the piece 50 years ago) so I want to get rid of them but I like the stains and the brown penny patina so I don't want to polish it out all shiny, either.
I think the spots may have been caused by the fact that we had a minor flood in the house a couple of years ago. We polished the dry sink including the wood under the liner and I wonder if the red oil furniture polish contributed to the problem since there isn't any blue-green on the top surface that shows.

hi use lemon juice and gently rub the spots then put Vaseline on the bit where they were this should stop the oxygen in the air from attacking the spots
